Hotbox Magazine is an online community - It is not a magazine in the traditional sense. We are attempting to chronicle the marijuana legalization movement by playing the role of facilitator. We are your guides through this smoky time, but it is you who is taking the journey. It is you who is affected by the laws as they change.

If you have ever written a blog, come up with a creative Facebook status, or are active in website forums then you are already a writer and Hotbox magazine wants your help.

Tell the Hotbox community how to roll a trick joint, or show us how to make a bong out of everyday objects or share your brushes with police – perhaps some tips on how to avoid getting caught smoking at concerts. What about all those hilarious stories of you getting busted by your parents when you were a teen?

Maybe you just want to write about a local band that sounds good when high or maybe they cite marijuana as a creative force. As facilitators we can set up the interview and you can knock it down.

We are here to help you make that first step, we can teach you interview and writing techniques that will strengthen your message and have it read by a wider audience.

If you’re comfortable with your writing then start a blog with a focus on what interests you – a style of music, books, pop culture, activism, your local weed community, head shop reviews, whatever you dig. Remember, this is a website built for you and the funny, ironic, scary, sad, inspired, and creative moments you go through as the cultural shift towards legalization continues.

For your first blog post try introducing yourself to the Hotbox Community and tell them what weed means to you. What’s your favourite part about smoking? What is your preferred method of smoking? Do you think weed will actually become legal? What does a weed legal world look like to you?

These are the fundamental questions we are all asking ourselves, now it’s time to smoke up and answer them.
